Global Teacher Prize

The Global Teacher Prize is organized by the Varkey Foundation to recognize a teacher who has had an inspiring impact on students and their community. Recipients are selected from worldwide public nominations, and teachers may self-nominate. Judging is conducted by the Global Teacher Prize Academy, a committee of head teachers, education experts, journalists, entrepreneurs, and other professionals. The award ceremony takes place each March at the Global Education and Skills Forum, where the winner receives US$1 million. The prize aims to elevate the status of the teaching profession and is often referred to as the 'Nobel Prize for teaching'.
