Explanation
Our bodies use special “oily” substances when we grow up or have babies; these are called sex hormones. Mr. Butenandt managed to take tiny amounts of these hormones from urine and ovaries and figure out exactly what they are. Because of his work, doctors can now give hormone medicines and test for hormone-related illnesses.
