Explanation
Sholokhov was a writer who described, in story form, the joys and sorrows of people living near Russia’s Don River. He wrote about families, friends, and the troubles that war brings, almost like a vivid movie. By reading his books we learn that people from a far-away time and place laughed and cried just like we do today.
